Custom Ear Plugs Australia

Custom earplugs are made from an impression of your own ear. Not a size small, medium or large — a cast of your actual ear canal, so the plug seals where a universal one leaks and stays put where a universal one works loose.

Hearsafe supplies them right across Australia, to workplaces and to individuals, through a network of partnered audiologists and registered nurses in every state.

Why the fit is the whole argument

Every earplug is rated in a laboratory under ideal conditions. In the real world, disposable foam routinely delivers a fraction of its rating, because it only works when it is rolled thin, inserted deep and held while it expands — and then it starts backing out as you talk, chew and move.

A moulded plug removes that variable. It returns to the same position every time. There is no technique to get wrong, no daily retraining, and no gradual loss of protection across a shift.

It also changes the economics. A foam plug is worn once and binned. A custom set is rinsed, dried and worn again for years, which is why the comparison people should be making is a year of disposables across a whole crew against one custom set per person.

What we supply

How it works, wherever you are

1. Order. Choose your product and place the order.
2. Get your impressions taken. We arrange an appointment with a partnered audiologist or registered nurse near you. They check the canal is clear, then take an impression with a soft silicone that sets in a few minutes. About 15 minutes for both ears, and it does not hurt.
3. We manufacture. Your impressions are scanned and the earplugs are built to that exact geometry, with the filter fitted during production. 10 to 15 working days from the time we receive them.
4. Delivered. Individually labelled left and right, ready to wear.

For workplaces, our fitters travel to your site instead — including regional and remote operations — and work through the whole crew in a single visit, with fit testing on the spot. That removes the lost time of sending people to individual appointments, which is usually the reason a rollout stalls.

Choosing the right level of protection

More attenuation is not automatically better. Someone who cannot hear a reversing alarm, a spotter's call or a change in machine noise is less safe, not more — and they will lift a plug to compensate, which defeats the purpose entirely. We match the class to your measured exposure rather than issuing maximum protection by default.

Where we work

Fittings are available in every capital and most regional centres: Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and the Gold Coast.

How long do they last?

Years. We recommend fresh impressions about every four years, because ear canals change shape over time and a set that sealed perfectly when new eventually will not. Custom sets carry a 30 day fit warranty and a 5 year extended warranty.

Are they worth it compared with disposables?

Run your own numbers through the cost saving calculator rather than take our word for it.

Do you keep my impressions?

Digitally, for two years. Order a second set inside that window and we will use the file rather than send you back for another appointment.

Can I order just one side?

Yes. Single-sided sets need to be ordered over the phone rather than through the website.

How do I look after them?

Rinse and dry after use, and keep the sound bore clear — wax build-up dulls the filter. Our care and maintenance guide covers it properly.
