Custom Ear Plugs Melbourne
Melbourne's noise problem is quieter than the Pilbara's and just as damaging. Eight hours a day beside a press brake, a CNC cell or a bottling line does the same thing to your hearing as a shorter burst of something louder — it just takes longer, so nobody notices until it is permanent.
Hearsafe supplies custom-moulded hearing protection across Melbourne and greater Victoria: made from an impression of your own ear, sealed properly, and comfortable enough that people keep them in for a full shift.
The industries we hear from most in Victoria
- Manufacturing and food processing through the north and west — continuous plant noise, long shifts, high staff turnover.
- Construction across the city's apartment and infrastructure pipeline, where noise moves around the site with the trade.
- Rail and transport, including maintenance crews working nights.
- Live music and venues. Melbourne has more of them per head than anywhere else in the country, and the staff working in them are exposed as much as the performers.
Why custom, not disposable
Disposable foam works properly only when it is rolled, inserted and held correctly, and it stops working the moment it loosens. Real-world attenuation is routinely far below what the packet claims, because real people are not laboratory conditions.
A custom plug is moulded to your canal, so the seal is the same on day two hundred as it was on day one. It also comes back to the same place every time, which removes the training problem entirely.
- Class 3, 4 and 5 protectors, matched to measured exposure rather than issued at maximum by default
- AS/NZS 1270 compliant, with documentation for your WHS records
- Communication options that let you use radio or phone without unsealing
- 30 day warranty on fit, plus a 5 year extended warranty
How the fitting works in Melbourne
For individuals, we arrange an appointment with a partnered audiologist or registered nurse near you. The impression takes roughly 15 minutes.
For workplaces, our fitters come to your plant or site and work through the team in a single visit, with fit testing done on the spot. For a manufacturer running shifts, that is usually the difference between a rollout that happens and one that stays on the to-do list.
Manufacturing takes 10 to 15 working days once we have the impressions. Every pair is labelled, and we hold a digital copy of your impressions for two years for reorders.
Working out whether it stacks up
The comparison people usually get wrong is unit price against unit price. The honest comparison is a year of disposables for your whole crew, plus the compliance exposure of protection that is not being worn correctly, against one custom set that lasts. Our cost saving calculator does that arithmetic with your own numbers.
Are they only for work?
No. The same impression produces sleep earplugs, musicians earplugs, motorcycle earplugs and swim plugs. Different filter, same fit.
How often do they need replacing?
Plan on fresh impressions about every four years, as ear canal shape changes over time.
Can I get a hearing test at the same time?
Our partnered audiologists can usually arrange that alongside your impression. Mention it when you book.

Did you know? Hearing damage is permanent and can begin at 70 decibels - the sound level of a noisy city street or a loud washing machine.
